Storm In A Teacup
Earl Grey is a black tea that derives from the tea plant Camelia sinensis. It's particular scent comes from the rind of the Bergamot orange. The splash of orange colour is due to the beautiful Marigold, who is associated with the Sun, and the blues, from the petals of the blue cornflower.
Former British Prime Minister, Earl Charles Grey (1746-1845), was offered a gift of tea and Bergamot oranges from diplomats in China. As they were shipped, the tea soaked up the flavour of the oranges. As far as one knows, this is how the tea's name arose.
